Santaco ramps up its Hlokomela campaign as festive season approaches
The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) says it is ramping up its Hlokomela campaign to protect commuters this festive season.
The programme runs until January 13th 2026, and includes roadworthiness checks, safety activations, and engagements with taxi operators across the country.
Santaco will be active at major taxi ranks, routes, and hotspots to ensure safer travel.
The council is also working with government departments and civil societies to reinforce responsible travel across South Africa.
Santaco national spokesperson Rebecca Phala says safety is a shared responsibility.
“Santaco will ensure that vehicles are never overloaded. Safety is a shared responsibility. Let us work together to make this festive season safer for all South Africans. Santaco encourages members of the media and the public to follow its official social media platforms for daily updates on the campaign,” adds Phala.
