Police arrest man in connection with missing mechanic, Reuben Myrberg's murder



Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the murder of diesel mechanic, Reuben Myrberg.

According to police, Myrberg was reported missing in November.

“The victim went missing while at a farm in Levubu policing area and valuable properties were stolen during the incident together with a Range Rover SUV vehicle,” police stated.

Through intensive investigations, police located the SUV at Polokwane International Airport in the Capricorn District.

The team was further led to the Makhado vicinity where they located Myrberg’s body, dumped in bushes near Correctional Services, wrapped with a blanket and in an advanced state of decomposition.

“The suspect was subsequently apprehended at his residence in Makhado town and police found a trailer, boat and bull bar belonging to the deceased.

“Police have registered a case of murder and house robbery against the 24-year-old male suspect who will appear at a local Magistrates’ court soon,” read a South African Police Service statement.

Police added that as part of ascertaining the identity of the deceased, the police are busy with further investigations, including conducting DNA analysis on the body of the deceased.
