A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly dealing in drugs at the Tzaneen taxi rank in Limpopo.

According to Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday night by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Narcotics Investigation Unit following a tip-off from a reliable source about a suspicious individual at the Tzaneen CBD bus rank.

“Members operationalised the information in Tzaneen CBD, where an African male suspect was monitored closely. At around 9 pm, the members approached the suspect, matching the description and searched him,” said Mashaba.

During the search, police found 228 sachets of nyaope, 53 sachets of crystal meth, 34 cocaine rocks wrapped in foil paper, 22 syringes, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.

The acting provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has welcomed the arrest.

The arrested man is expected to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 9 January 2026, on a charge of dealing in drugs.

Sachets of nyaope allegedly seized by police during an operation at the Tzaneen taxi rank that led to the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect.

On Thursday, IOL reported that a 58-year-old woman was arrested after police recovered crystal meth with an estimated street value of R9,000 during an intelligence-led operation in the Sekhukhune District, Limpopo.

The arrest was made by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, who acted on intelligence about alleged drug dealing at Machanganeni Village in the Apel policing area.

Police said officers searched the premises with the woman’s consent and seized 90 sachets of crystal meth. The woman was arrested and charged with possession and dealing in drugs.
