'Worst sexists': Presidency condemns vulgar modified images of Minister Ntshavheni
Minister in the Presidency, Ms Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, has condemned attempts by online trolls to vilify her image.
This comes after a photoshopping of her X account with vulgar images, and misinformation surfaced on social media recently.
The Minister said this was not only distasteful but deeply shameful.
“In a country that is battling with a scourge of gender-based violence, the continued use of sexual images to tarnish women is deplorable at the least,” Ntshavheni said.
“The cowards responsible for the Photoshop represent the worst sexists and gender based violence perpetrators.”
In a statement released on Saturday, the Presidency warned the public about the uncouth images published allegedly on the Minister’s account.
It said the Minister’s account was not hacked but the images were photoshopped.
“Attempts to defocus Minister Ntshavheni from the tasks at hand will not succeed,” the statement said.
The government has also pointed at a coordinated misinformation campaign primarily targeting Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
