65-year-old man murdered in Humansdorp farm robbery



A 65-year-old man was brutally murdered when robbers struck a smallholding outside Humansdorp on Tuesday morning.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli said the incident happened along the R102 at about 1.30 am.

“Police were called to the farm following reports of a robbery in progress,” he said.

“When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of the elderly man inside the property.

“He had suffered open wounds.”

The man’s identity was not immediately known.

“The victim’s name has not yet been released, as police say a formal identification process is still underway,” Nkohli said.

“Police confirmed that a case of murder and house robbery has been opened and that an investigation is continuing.”

No arrests have been made at this stage, he said.

“The circumstances surrounding the attack are still being probed.”

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help lead to the arrest of those responsible to come forward.

Nkohli said anyone with information was urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Captain Smit, on 071 3524623.
