UPDATE: Four suspects gunned down in shoot-out with KwaMakhutha police
Four suspects were shot and fatally wounded in a shoot-out with police at Adam’s Mission in the KwaMakhutha policing precinct, south of Durban, on Thursday evening.
According to a statement released by KZN SAPS, the suspects were wanted for a series of serious and violent crimes.
“Police were on an intelligence-driven operation when they spotted the vehicle matching the description of the one which the suspects were using to terrorise the community of Umbumbulu and other areas by committing armed robberies, house robberies, carjackings and kidnappings,” read the statement.
The police then caught up with the suspects on Sheleni Road, and a shoot-out ensued.
Police stated that after the shootout, four suspects were found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
One suspect narrowly evaded arrest. A manhunt for him is underway.
No police officer was injured during the shootout.
