Government has attributed the growing tourism numbers in the country to its implementation of structural reforms. It says the reforms include investment in the rail and ports system which has led to an improvement in the movement of goods and people.

Government also says the aim of the reforms is to drive inclusive economic growth and to create jobs.

Deputy Minister in the Presidency Nonceba Mhlauli presented the quarterly progress report on phase two of Operation Vulindlela in Sandton, Johannesburg on Friday.

“The reduction in loadshedding from the reforms in the energy sector has had tangible results on our households and business likewise; reforms in the rail system has supported the performance in passenger rail systems with the majority of our corridors now up and running and providing cheaper transport for the citizens of this country. Going forward, as we advance reforms in our housing policy and the local government system, we will make progress on issues that are the most critical for poor households which include the delivery of basic services.”
