A key Stormers and Springbok player is facing a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for a groin hernia.
Experienced scrumhalf Cobus Reinach confirmed the procedure via social media, posting a photo from a hospital bed on X and Instagram with the caption: “Quick pit stop. Everything went well! Back in a bit.”
According to Netwerk24, the operation was planned and successfully completed.
While the Stormers have not yet provided a detailed timeline for Reinach’s return, recovery from groin hernia surgery typically ranges between four and six weeks.

Reinach’s absence would be significant for the Stormers. Since returning to South Africa last year after a lengthy stint in Europe, the former Montpellier and Northampton Saints halfback has brought invaluable experience, tempo and game management to John Dobson’s side.
A two-time World Cup winner, Reinach remains one of the most seasoned No 9s in the local game and a key mentor to younger players in the squad.
