Two construction workers rescued after trench collapse at V&A Waterfront



Two construction workers were rescued after trench collapsed at construction site at the V& A Waterfront in Cape Town on Friday.

V& A Waterfront spokesperson David Kau said the trench collapse occurred during an infrastructure repairs project.

“Two workers were trapped but saved by the protection shoring that is part of the trench they were working in. Both workers have been retrieved and are receiving [medical treatment],” he said.

Kau said City Fire and Rescue were on site and were carrying out the retrieval.
