Gauteng 2030 plan targets innovation, infrastructure, agro-processing
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has set out three key priorities as part of the province’s Economic Growth and Development Plan 2030.
It is a strategic roadmap designed to accelerate economic growth, attract investment and drive job creation across Gauteng.
Lesufi says at the centre of their plan is information and communications technology, infrastructure development and agro-processing.
Speaking at the launch in Johannesburg, the premier emphasised the central role of the province in the country’s future.
“We must be the home of innovation. We must be the home of new ideas. We must be the home of artificial intelligence. I always argue, Stone Age didn’t end because that generation ran out of stones. Stone Age ended because new ideas were planted. We should position ourselves as Gauteng, as the home of new ideas, the home of innovation and the home of creativity.”

GDP growth could rise to between 3.6% and 5.4%, unlocking billions in additional economic output. This is growth at scale.#GrowingGautengTogether pic.twitter.com/FvCGxBl6px
