Trump threatens secondary tariffs on all oil coming out of Russia – SABC News
The United States (US) President, Donald Trump says he was “very angry” at Russian President Vladimir Putin, threatening secondary tariffs on all oil coming out of Russia.
He was speaking to NBC News, after reports emerged that Putin called for a transitional government to be put in place in Ukraine.
Trump warned that if Russia was at fault for the lack of a peace deal with Ukraine, he would impose sanctions on countries purchasing Russian oil.
He says that if Russia were to prove unable to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine and if he thought they were at fault, he would impose tariffs on oil coming out of Russia.
Trump told NBC News, he planned to speak with President Putin this week, who suggested recently that Ukraine be put under a form of temporary administration to allow for fresh elections that could push out Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Trump also announced he would impose a 25% tariff on the US imports of nations that buy oil from Venezuela.
