23 Limpopo matriculants waiting for results due to cheating saga – SABC News
A group of 23 former matric learners from Mashienyane Secondary School in Limpopo have expressed their frustration over the Department of Basic Education’s failure to release their matric results.
The department has accused the learners of cheating in the economics paper during the 2024 final matric exams.
A class of 35 learners were involved, only 23 have had their results withheld.
The learners were taken through a departmental hearing but the outcomes have not yet been released.
Authorities at the department are yet to respond.
The affected learners say they are unable to further their studies and apply for jobs.
“I have been affected so badly because we are stressed, we can’t apply to go to school, we can’t apply for jobs, we are busy staying at home facing our parents every day and doing useless things and we would like to receive our statements from the department. We are calling on the government to release our results because we want to go to school. I’m very much affected because, like, I was having a lot of depression and stress and I was thinking to kill myself, so I can find peace. So, because I can’t even be able to apply to go to school or to apply to go to work. So, my request is asking for the department to give us our result,” laments one of the learners.
