Risk analyst and former South African Diplomat Dr Kingsley Makhubela says Elon Musk needs to tread carefully against United States President Donald Trump.

The feud between two of the world’s most powerful billionaires shows no sign of ending. This comes after Trump declared on Saturday that he had no desire to repair their relationship.

The fight began over Musk’s public criticism of Trump’s “Big Beautiful” budget bill and the projected 2,5 trillion dollars increase it would cause to the federal deficit.

Dr Makhubela says Musk should not over-emphasise his importance.

“Americans would, in general, resent a very wealthy person who challenges the Office of the President and wins, it doesn’t matter whatever problems they may have with Donald Trump. That’s one big problem that Musk has to manage. But Musk is to also understand that the United States President has a lot of powers that can really be used to frustrate some of his key ventures,” says Makhubela.
