PICS & VIDEO: 'That territory belongs to the 28s': Andre Naude assassinated in Cape Town

Tensions are high in the underworld after the assassination of alleged underworld kingpin Andre Naude on Thursday.

Naude, who was gunned down along the very busy Voortrekker Road after 3 pm, could be seen lying in the road.

He died on the scene.

It has been reported that Naude was not alone at the time of his murder and that his bodyguard was injured in the shooting.

A source told IOL Naude has been killed on gang turf.

“That territory there belongs to the 28s. But, everything is not as it seems, and more will unravel as time goes on.

Mayoral committee member for safety and security, Alderman JP Smith, confirmed that the City of Cape Town was informed of the shooting of Naude.

“We have deployed services to the scene,” he said.

Friend and alleged leader of the Sexy Boys gang, Jerome ‘Donkie’ Booysen, was also on the scene not long after the shooting.

Another figure, Suhail Mohammed, known as ‘Mr Zulu’, was also seen at the scene. He was shot in November last year in his neck and stomach outside the alleged gang boss Peter Jaggers’ house. This was after Jaggers’ death in October 2024.

Jaggers was allegedly kidnapped by a Colombian cartel.

Jaggers’s body was discovered in a dam in the Free State last month. The body was found along with another man’s body. His wife had reported him missing on July 5 at the Bishop Lavis Police Station after he had disappeared at or near the Emperors Palace in Gauteng on July 3.

It was alleged that Jaggers stole R1 billion worth of cocaine from the cartel, and rumours spread that he had been kidnapped, and a R50 million ransom was demanded.

Naude, who owns a security company in Cape Town, has been linked to the underworld many times and was close friends with slain Mark Lifman. He is no stranger to the law either and was currently embroiled in a mammoth trial currently underway in the Western Cape High Court.

Naude is the second accused in the matter to be killed in months.

In November last year, underworld kingpin Mark Lifman was gunned down in a parking lot at a shopping centre in George in the Western Cape.

In December, Naude and Donkie were seen laying flowers at the spot where Lifman was killed.
