Madlanga Commission to give outcome on in-camera opposition by 5pm – SABC News

The Madlanga Commission, which is looking into criminality, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system, has adjourned following an opposition application to host proceedings in-camera.

The opposition application was brought by media companies Daily Maverick and Media 24.

During last week’s scheduled adjournment, the Madlanga Commission announced that it would bring an application before the inquiry to host the proceedings in-camera due to the sensitivity of the evidence.

“The commissioners are in agreement with that we could answer it by 5pm today and together with our answer we would file any written argument that we thought might assist the commission and we’ve asked Mr. Du Plessis if his team would similarly file any written argument by 5pm,” said evidence leader Advocate Matthew Chaskalson.
