SAPS CFO Puleng Dimpane distances herself from tender awards
South African Police Service Chief Financial Officer, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, says she is not responsible for the awarding of tenders and operational financial disbursement.
Dimpane is testifying before the Ad Hoc Committee established to investigate allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system.
The allegations were made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, during a media briefing in July.
This week’s hearings are at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Services Facility in Pretoria, where Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala is detained.
He will testify before the committee on Wednesday.
Dimpane says operational decisions are taken by relevant managers.
“While I oversee financial operations, it is crucial to understand that my role does not include operational decisions. Operational decisions are taken by the relevant managers that are responsible for operations and ultimately with the national commissioner. I am not responsible for contract awards or I don’t have any direct involvement in supply chain management prior to the recent changes in terms of the structural changes.”
