NPA holds silent walk as men lead call to protect women and children
NPA officials have held a silent walk and candlelight ceremony to mark the start of 16 Days of Activism against Violence Against Women and Children at the High Court precinct in Mbombela.
The NPA male officials led the silent walk as a symbol for men to take the lead in protecting women and children.
Victims and survivors of Gender-Based-Violence were remembered during the candle light ceremony.
Mpumalanga Acting Director of Public Prosecution, Sonja Ntuli, says they work around the clock to enroll to the court roll Gender-based Violence related cases.
“We want to convey a clear message to the members of the public, we are quite aware of the upsurge in cases of Gender-based Violence. We have programme to deal with those cases to enroll them as quickly as possible, but we want convey to the members of the public that it is not only something we do in terms of our work in cases that we prosecute, but we also encourage our own male prosecutors that they must practice all actions that would discourage any form of Gender-based Violence.”
