EFF push for immediate Phala Phala impeachment process

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader, Julius Malema, says he will write to National Assembly Speaker, Thoko Didiza, immediately to request her to immediately establish an impeachment committee in the Phala Phala matter.

This comes after the Chief Justice Mandisa Maya ruled in favour of the EFF in the case.

Maya says Parliament acted unlawfully in 2022 when it voted to reject an independent panel’s report that had recommended an impeachment inquiry into President Cyril Ramaphosa.

This relates to the theft of more than $500 000 at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo in February 2020.

Malema has welcomed the Constitutional Court judgment.

“The impeachment process must kick in with immediate effect, and that’s what we’re going to demand. And let’s see the hand of the Democratic Alliance (DA), which was with us when we were saying, let’s impeach. Now that they are eating bananas and apples, let’s see if they will be able to talk with a full mouth,” says Malema.
