Public Servants Association spokesperson Claude Naicker on what is expected of the new leadership.
“We are ushering in new leadership, that’s going to come in for the next five years. They got their work cut out, but we are confident that they’re going to do a fantastic job. Over the last few days, we’ve adopted a number of resolutions. When we look at workers, the first thing that comes to the top of our mind is salaries and wages. It’s just not all about salaries and wages, there’s so many issues that are affecting workers. Migrant workers have become such a sensitive topic, occupational health and safety issues, especially in the public sector. When you walk into many of the government departments, most of them are dilapidated. There are water issues. There are basic necessities that are not in place electrical wires that are exposed. More importantly, mental health as well.”
