Five people including a woman have been gunned down in a mass shooting in Langa on the Cape Flats.

The attack occurred on Saturday night.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut says officers responded to a complaint of a shooting at a house in Phase 3, Langa, where they found the victims.

The victims sustained gunshot wounds and were declared diseased at the scene. The motive for the attack is currently unknown, and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Provincial Serious Violent Crime detectives are pursuing every available lead to identify those responsible.

Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi has condemned this brutal act of violence and has directed detectives to pursue all avenues to make sure the perpetrators are brought to book.
