Five suspects arrested for the brutal murder of an elderly man in Humansdorp
Five suspects linked to the brutal murder of an elderly man were arrested over the weekend and are due to appear in Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
According to a statement released by SAPS, the five men aged between 22 and 37 were found in possession of items that were presumably stolen during the attack.
They were charged with murder, house robbery and possession of suspected stolen property.
Deon Du Toit’s body, 60, was found on a farm outside Humansdorp.
It is believed that he was killed when robbers struck a smallholding outside Humansdorp on January 27.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli said the incident happened along the R102 at about 1.30 am.
“Police were called to the farm following reports of a robbery in progress,” he said at the time.
“When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of the elderly man inside the property.
“He had suffered open wounds.”
