The Democratic Alliance (DA) has confirmed Helen Zille as its mayoral candidate for Johannesburg in the upcoming 2026 Local Government Elections.

The party’s leader, John Steenhuisen, made the announcement in Soweto, Johannesburg, on Saturday morning.

He said Zille is a leader ready to work with residents to rescue the City of Gold and restore faith and opportunity.

Zille is the DA’s Federal Council Chairperson.
