The National Orders will take place at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.
Professor Marivate says the recognition is an honour.
“When I got the letter from the Presidency, even now, I think it’s what, three or four days later, it feels unreal. You feel like, are you worthy? You think, do I deserve it or who else? There are so many people that we tend to work with in our area. Also seeing the other awardees, I’m very honoured to be in the same category as Professor Karim and Professor Olivera, where during COVID, all of us were doing our part in trying to use data and information to help the public as much as possible,” says Prof. Marivate.
