City of Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says the City is deliberately creating markets to help small and medium-sized businesses grow and access new opportunities.

Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the Alexandra Township Automotive Hub, north of Johannesburg, Morero says the facility will help local entrepreneurs access the automotive industry market.

The 17-workshop facility aims to help Local Automotive Entrepreneurs formalise their businesses, access wider markets and create sustainable jobs.

Morero says the city is also developing an investment unit that will explore international markets.

“There’s been a deliberate action from the side of the city to create markets that will support SMMEs. We’re establishing our investment department or unit, which will also be looking into international markets on how we can create international markets for businesses in Johannesburg. So that office will soon be established and concluded and will liaise with new economies, whether China, Japan, or any other economies.”
