We celebrated Jonty’s 50th over a weekend on a neighbouring island at a private haunted hotel! I chose to play all South African music as he hails from there, and also I’m a wee bit obsessed with amapiano these days as well as all of its sub genres. I kicked it off with some easeful poppy faves as I was the first DJ of the evening, and the second half is what I’m all about these days – a gritty shimmering tapestry of African polyrhythms that really gets me moving.
