KZN police mourn officer killed in ambush last month
Police in KwaZulu-Natal bid farewell to intelligence officer Sergeant Mandla Khuzwayo who succumbed to his injuries sustained in an ambush last month.
Thirty-nine-year-old Sergeant Khuzwayo and his colleague Captain Cornelius Nel were ambushed and shot at with high calibre firearms while travelling in an unmarked vehicle in Mount Edgecombe in Durban.
Nel was declared dead at the scene, while Khuzwayo was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
He passed away in hospital earlier this week and was laid to rest in KwaMashu on Saturday. Crime Intelligence’s Major General Nosipho Madondo told mourners that investigations were at an advanced stage and that police wouldn’t rest before the killers were brought to justice.
