Lamola calls for stronger SA–Rwanda trade ties
International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola says South Africa and Rwanda must deepen economic cooperation and increase trade and investment between the two countries. This comes as representatives of both countries hold talks in Pretoria.
Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe says relations between Rwanda and South Africa are entering a new chapter.
The talks include efforts to improve cooperation in trade, tourism, and health.
Lamola says the two nations are working from a strong base.
“It is important that we redouble our efforts to ensure that levels of trade and investment are increased for the mutual benefit of our countries. Rwanda hosts numerous South African companies, and it is, therefore, important that the presence of Rwandan companies in South Africa is also increased. Foundations already exist for our two countries to enhance collaboration in trade and investment, infrastructure development, tourism, health and education and other sectors,” says Lamola.
