Matric class of 2025 achieves 88% pass rate, KZN takes pole position

The Matric class of 2025 has achieved 88% pass rate, an increase from last year’s 87.03%, and the highest ever in the country’s national senior certificate (NSC) history.
The results have just been released by Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube, in Randburg, north of Johannesburg.
The leading province is KwaZulu-Natal, with 90.8% pass rate, followed in second place by the Free State, with Gauteng rounding the top three.
