The infant was kidnapped from a Bellville shopping mall on Saturday but was found unharmed and returned to his mother two days later.

The woman is facing two charges – one of kidnapping and another of defeating the means of justice.

Family members and relatives of the baby’s mother, 25-year-old Imaan Sharmar, have all gathered in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court for the suspect’s first appearance.
