Men lead Soweto march against GBVF

A national call for men to take the lead in the fight against gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) has taken center stage in Soweto.
This after the Good Men Foundation led the Men Unite Against GBVF march at Elka Stadium.
Several civic organisations supported Thursday’s march.
Thato Mbha, the chairperson of the Amatyma Brotherhood Circle says the aim of the initiative to promote accountability and the mentorship of young men.
“Men must be accountable for their actions, you know. They say every 63 seconds, a woman and child is a victim of gender-based violence and the perpetrators are men. So, we need to have these honest, frank and uncomfortable conversations with men to find out what is a recourse of this, why are we abusing kids, raping, murdering women and it’s enough.”
Mbha adds, “Enough is enough and we can no longer stand on the sideline of gender-based violence in South Africa as men.”
