Moodley sisters killed in Northern Cape crash to be laid to rest this weekend

The two sisters who tragically lost their lives in a vehicle accident over the weekend in the Northern Cape will be laid to rest at home in Gauteng.

Cassidy Moodley, 23, Connor Moodley, 25, and 27-year-old Storm Moodley from Johannesburg, were headed home on Saturday, September 13, when they were involved in a vehicle accident in the Klein Karoo, approximately 30 kilometres outside Britstown.

At the time, the sisters were returning home from Cape Town.

Speaking to IOL, their uncle and family spokesperson, Lance Poonawassy, previously said the loss was a devastating blow to the small and close-knit family, and his nieces drove down to Cape Town to celebrate their cousin.

“It was my son’s graduation at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). We had such a wonderful day celebrating. They are just five cousins, we’re quite a small family, and they really wanted to celebrate with him, and drove to Cape Town,” he explained.

At the time of the incident, the eldest sister, Storm, was rushed to the hospital and has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

The uncle also confirmed that while the investigation into the accident is underway, no foul play is suspected.

Tributes and messages of condolences continue to stream in on social media.

Their funeral is expected to take place on Saturday at a church in Florida, followed by a cremation in Braamfontein.
