People taken for questioning at ORTIA not linked to S Africans stuck in Russia: Hawks


Four people were taken for questioning at OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) on Friday morning by the Hawks in connection with an ongoing investigation.

The Hawks, however, say that this has nothing to do with the plight of 17 South Africans in Russia.

The Hawks would not release names and say the matter is being dealt with in terms of the rights of the individuals been questioned.

Hawks’ spokesperson Brigadier Thandi Mbambo, “We can confirm at this stage there are no arrests that have been made in relation to the Russian Ukraine conflict; however, four individuals have been taken in for questioning on a separate matter, and at this stage we can’t disclose the details there of.”
