A police captain attached to the South African Police Service (SAPS) Forensic Science Laboratory is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court Monday.

The Commissions Recommendations Task Team arrested the police official at his residence in Pretoria on Friday.

This followed an investigation into allegations that he interfered with the administration of justice. The allegations are linked to a number of ongoing murder investigations and evidence presented before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

National Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says, “During the operation, the team seized several items belonging to the state, including ballistic reports, several rounds of ammunition and other evidential material relevant to investigations. The suspect is expected to appear before the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Monday.”
