Police probe Gugulethu, Philippi East shooting incidents

Five people have been shot and killed in separate incidents on the Cape Flats in the early hours of this morning.
Police Spokesperson Andre Traut says three people were killed in Gugulethu after gunmen opened fire on a group of people socialising at a residence on J Nontulo Street at around 03:35.
The suspects fled the scene. One person was wounded and was taken to the hospital.
In a separate incident in Philippi East, in the Marikana informal settlement, a 43-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were shot and killed at about 04:00.
Two other men, aged 37 and 46, sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Traut says no arrests have been made in either case.
Police have opened three counts of murder and one of attempted murder in Gugulethu, while a separate investigation is underway in Philippi East.
