Police probe two mass shootings in the Cape Flats
Western Cape police are investigating two separate mass shooting incidents on the Cape Flats that claimed the lives of seven people and left five others injured.
In the first incident, three men were shot dead and two others wounded when armed suspects opened fire outside a tuckshop in Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain. The victims were standing outside the shop when they came under attack.
Police spokesperson Andre Traut says a second shooting occurred shortly afterwards in Philippi East.
Traut says four people were killed in the incident, while three others were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made. Investigations into both shootings are continuing.
