R2.5 million allocated to fix Knysna pump station

Western Cape Minister for Local Government and Development Planning Anton Bredell has approved the transfer of R2.5 million to the Knysna Municipality for urgent repairs at the Charlesford Pump Station.

The funding will be used to replace pump motors, with the upgrade expected to be completed in April.

The improvements are aimed at increasing the municipality’s ability to pump raw water from the river to the Akkerkloof Dam when conditions allow.

The funding forms part of broader efforts by the Western Cape government, the Garden Route District Municipality and national partners to stabilise Knysna’s water system.

Residents, businesses and visitors have been urged to continue using water responsibly and to comply with existing water restrictions.
