Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) has applied to National Treasury to blacklist seven companies found to have been involved in serious unethical and unlawful conduct.

The state-owned company says through forensic investigations, supported by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), uncovered a range of irregularities.

These include financial misconduct, kickback schemes, bribery, theft of company assets, collusion and the submission of false information.

Transnet spokesperson Ayanda Shezi says they have also instituted disciplinary action against employees who colluded with the seven blacklisted companies over the years.

“Following forensic investigations which uncovered a range of irregularities which include kickback schemes, bribery, financial misconduct, collusion and the submission of false information, Transnet has successfully applied to the National Treasury for the blacklisting of seven companies which are implicated in this conduct. The blacklisted companies will be restricted from doing business with Transnet. Disciplinary action against implicated Transnet employees has also commenced,” explains Shezi.
