Trump’s tariff hike on SA is part of the US trade issues: Dangor – SABC News

The International Relations Director-General Zane Dangor says a decision by US President Donald Trump to impose tariffs on South Africa should be seen in the context of the approach the US is taking globally on trade issues.
On Wednesday, Trump imposed 30% tariffs on South Africa. Dangor says this is not about South Africa as many countries including in Africa are affected.
“The approach by the US administration on the issues of trade is a global one. The domestic issue was one we discussed. We spent some time clarifying and explaining. It was the first time that we met with the senior officials both in the State Department and the National Security Council.”
