US Republican Congressman Troy Nehls has introduced legislation into the House of Representatives to support President Donald Trump’s Executive Order on resettling Afrikaner refugees in the United States.

Dubbed the Afrikaner Act – the “Asylum for Farmers and Refugees in Crisis and Necessary Emigration Resettlement Act” would give priority-2 status to residents of South Africa who are members of the Caucasian Afrikaner ethnic minority group who have suffered persecution on account of their race, ethnicity or ancestry.

In a statement, Congressman Nehls says the Afrikaner population in South Africa has been experiencing unjust racial discrimination and that the situation continues to get worse by the day, affirming disputed sentiments expressed by President Trump that how Afrikaners are being treated is a massive human rights violation.

The bill would have to pass both houses of Congress including the Senate which are both controlled by Republican majorities.

The text of the proposed legislation reads that residents of South Africa who are members of the Caucasian minority group and have suffered persecution, in addition to their spouses, children and parents, would be designated Priority-2 refugees or a group of special concern as designated by the State Department.
