Vehicle seen on CCTV footage detailed at AKA murder trial
CCTV footage in the murder trial of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane has taken centre stage in the Durban High Court.
The court heard that a vehicle was seen around Wish restaurant before the shooting. It was then captured moving through Durban streets afterwards, at one point travelling at high speed.
Prosecutor Lawrence Gcaba questioned state witness, Constable Rajen Sanders about similarities between this and the one police had found in Cato Manor less than a month later after the fatal shooting in 2023. “On the 6th of March 2023, a Mercedez-Benz was recovered in the Cato Manor area. Did you attend this scene where the car was recovered?”
“Yes I was,” said Sanders.
“Upon your arrival what were your observations of this Mercedez-Benz compared to the getaway vehicle used in the shooting?”
“The similarities were the placement of the licence disc, the colour, and the non-functioning left headlight and the rims of the vehicle,” replied Sanders.
The defence has opposed the admission of a photo album containing more than 50 photographs linked to the evidence found at the scene where the vehicle was found in Cato Manor. The trial continues.
