Three suspected kidnappers gunned down during Mariannhill shootout

Three suspected kidnappers have been shot dead during a shootout with police in Mariannhill, Durban, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Police say officers acted on intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the suspects, who were wanted in connection with a kidnapping and fraud case in Greenwood Park.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says officers approached the suspects, where an exchange of gunfire ensued.
He says Investigations into the incident are continuing.
Netshiunda says, “Police spotted the suspects driving along Milky Way Road and attempted to stop their vehicle. The suspect defied the police’s instruction and sped off. Police gave chase, and during the operation, a shootout ensued.”
He says, “The suspect’s vehicle lost control and hit a tree. Three suspects were shot and fatally wounded during the shootout, and no police officer was injured. The suspects were found in possession of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition.”
