WSU employee accused of student’s shooting granted R10 000 bail – SABC News

The Walter Sisulu University (WSU) staff member accused of fatally shooting a student during an unrest in one of the institution’s residences has been granted R10 000 bail.

This follows the 54-year-old’s brief appearance in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court, Eastern Cape today.

The ruling comes after the court heard closing arguments from both the state and defense.

The suspect is accused of shooting 24-year-old student, Sisonke Mbolekwa, while two students were injured during a protest over poor living conditions at the residences.

Disappointed students stormed out of court, while the magistrate read the bail conditions.
