The East London Regional Court in the Eastern Cape is expected to hear closing arguments in the firearm discharge case against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and his bodyguard, Adrian Snyman.

Malema is accused of discharging a firearm during the party’s fifth anniversary celebrations held at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape in 2018.

He has told the court that the firearm used was a toy.

The duo is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and discharging a firearm in a public area.
