Paarl Gimnasium and Paarl Boys’ High geared up for this Saturday’s Interschools derby with emphatic victories over Cape Town’s southern suburbs opposition.

Gimmies ran in 10 tries to hammer Wynberg 68-22, with SA Schools captain Markus Muller scoring twice and slotting seven conversions. Midfield partner Ethan Barker and winger Johan Kleynhans also grabbed a brace each as unbeaten Gimmies claimed their 18th win of the season.

Meanwhile, Boishaai dotted down nine times in a 51-8 home win against SACS. Winger Kaleb Holmes scored a hat-trick and fullback Mark Grindlay added two more.

SACS did have cause for celebration earlier in the day, with flyhalf Jake Dave slotting a last-minute penalty to seal a dramatic 36-35 victory in the U16A clash.

In Gauteng, hosts Affies overpowered Maritzburg College 45-27, visitors KES edged Pretoria Boys’ 24-23, and DHS claimed a memorable 24-10 win at  Jeppe.

In the Noordvaal Cup, defending champions Garsfontein romped to a 68-17 win over Monument.

In KwaZulu-Natal, Northwood claimed a 19-11 victory against Glenwood, while there were notable wins for Selborne, Stirling, Grey High and Queen’s in the Eastern Cape.
