On Monday last week, residents of Thembisa embarked on a violent protest against the increased electricity tariff, they used rocks and burning tyres to blockade roads.
Xhakaza says public engagement will give direction on the way forward.
“If communities and ourselves agree on removing that tariff from the A2 block. I must say A2 because that is where our indigent households , the poorest of the poor and low consumption customers and communities come from. If we decide to scrap it, we will have to finance using our coffers to cushion that component.”
