Metro police officer among two fatally shot at Durban's Blue Lagoon
A METRO Police officer and another man were fatally shot during an alleged altercation near Durban’s Blue Lagoon public pools early Saturday morning. Emergency services responded to multiple reports of gunfire at approximately 2:30am, but despite paramedics’ efforts to save the critically wounded officer, both men succumbed to their injuries
According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, emergency services responded to multiple calls reporting a shooting incident near Blue Lagoon.
“Upon arrival, paramedics found both SAPS and metro police already on scene and were directed to two men who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
“One male believed to be in his thirties showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene. A second male, believed to be a metro police officer also in his thirties, was found in a critical condition. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to resuscitate the man on scene before rushing him through to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, a short while after arriving at hospital the patient went into a state of cardiac arrest and despite all attempts to save the man he was declared deceased.”
Jamieson added that the circumstances surrounding the incident was unclear.
