Police seize counterfeit goods worth R369k in raids across Gauteng
Gauteng police have seized counterfeit and illicit goods worth nearly R370 000 in three separate operations on the West Rand and in Sedibeng, south of the province, this week.
The operations targeted 27 shops suspected of selling illegal and counterfeit products.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says the three-day operations resulted in the seizure of a combined total of 6 293 items with an estimated value of R369 310.
“The South African Police Service (SAPS) Gauteng remains committed to disrupting the distribution and sale of counterfeit, contraband and illicit goods, which undermine legitimate businesses and may pose health and safety risks to consumers,” she adds.
Nevhuhulwi members of the public are encouraged to report the sale and distribution of counterfeit goods.
