Suspected illicit cigarette smuggler arrested outside Musina
A suspected illicit cigarettes smuggler has been arrested at Muswodi outside Musina in Limpopo. Police say the suspected smuggler was transporting illicit cigarettes worth over one and half million rand.
The cigarettes were being transported in a bakkie.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the suspect will appear in court soon.
“During the search, police discovered a large consignment of illicit cigarettes concealed inside the vehicle. The driver was immediately arrested for contravention of the Customs and Excise Act. The illicit cigarettes, valued at approximately R1 663 045, were confiscated. The suspect is expected to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court soon.”
