Mamelodi Sundowns have climbed to the top of the Betway Premiership standings after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Amazulu FC on Tuesday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. The decisive goal came late in the game from Marcelo Allende, ensuring the Pretoria-based side took all three points from Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Bafana Ba Style dominated the match from the outset, with an early threatening shot from Katlego Ntsabeleng in the 11th minute. Further attempts to break the deadlock came from Khulumani Ndamane, whose header forced a save from the Amazulu goalkeeper.

Sundowns suffered an early setback when Thapelo Morena was forced off due to injury just after the half-hour mark, replaced by Nuno Santos. Amazulu had a golden opportunity in the dying stages of the first half, but Ronwen Williams made a crucial save to keep the score level at halftime.

The second half saw Sundowns maintain their dominance, creating numerous chances against a resilient Usuthu defense. Tashreeq Matthews and Brayan Leon had long-range efforts denied. With only six minutes remaining, Marcelo Allende finally broke the deadlock with a beautiful close-range finish, sealing the win for Sundowns.
